23rd February 2018 – Team Coaching
Date: Friday 23rd February 2018
Time: 12:00 – 3:30pm
Location: The Henshall Centre, 5 Glasshouse Walk, Vauxhall, London SE11 5ES
As organisations become more fluid and agile, the traditional notion of teams has changed. Team members come and go and many people now work in matrix structures and project teams. In this scenario, teams form and disband regularly and often have short time frames to achieve the outcomes they were created for. People also play multiple roles – team leader in one team, team member in another.
It’s this shift that has prompted a greater interest in team coaching – working with an intact team while they are doing real work. All teams learn together but having a coach can really help them to accelerate performance. A coach can help them to step back and reflect on how they work, to experiment with new behaviours and new ways of doing things. They can help a team learn how to do their best work together while team members learn at a personal level at the same time.
Join Gill Martin at the next BFLG meeting to hear more about team coaching and how team coaches work. There is no right way to coach a team so there will be plenty of opportunity to share experience of working with teams or in teams. During the session we will:
1) Discuss what team coaching is and isn’t and when it might be a valuable learning intervention
2) Look at a model to describe the work of teams and how to use this as a diagnostic for team effectiveness
3) Take away ideas and techniques to help teams become more effective – please feel free to bring your own tried and trusted activities to share
With 25 years in learning and development, Gill is passionate about equipping people with the skills to perform at their best whilst helping organisations to harness the expertise and creativity of all their employees. She has a particular interest in helping colleagues build strong working relationships as the foundation for collaboration, problem solving and outstanding performance.
As a qualified coach and team coach, Gill’s facilitation style is both encouraging and stretching. Her sessions will make you think and you’ll leave with practical strategies that can be applied right away.
